What All the Shoutin’s About

I like imaginin’ praise

comin’ outta my house,

loud enough to

wake up the sun

and bring it runnin’

up my mountain,

just to see

what all the shoutin’s about.

Inspired by Psalm 108:1-5

“My heart is steadfast, O God;
I will sing and make music with all my soul.
Awake harp and lyre!
I will awaken the dawn.
I will praise you, O Lord, among the nations;
I will sing of you among the peoples.
For great is your love, higher than the heavens;
your faithfulness reaches to the skies.
Be exalted, O God, above the heavens,
and let your glory be over all the earth.”

  1. This one made my mouth well with laughter. (How else does one explain smiling and almost laughing, but not quite bursting out in joyful laughter?) Is there a better word? When our eyes fill with tears, but we don’t actually cry or let the tears spill over, then we speak of our eyes “welling with tears.” . . .

    Quite the imagery for “awaken[ing] the dawn”!

    May my house engage in such behavior!
